I run a 23 Shoal Water Cat boat powered by a Mercury 300 Pro. This boat is fully equipped with a Bob’s jack plate, Motor Guide trolling motor, twin Power Poles and a custom top for the hot summer months. The Shoal Water Cat is very stable and offers a smooth and dry ride. The boat floats in 8 to 10 inches of water and will get up in 15 inches. This means we can go just about anywhere we want to find fish. This boat has plenty of dry storage for tackle and offers a great deal of fishing room for clients.
Fishing Tackle
Fishing the flats for big trout and redfish can be challenging. Good tackle is essential and I can provide you with the finest rods and reels on the market. Depending on your preference, I provide the finest Shimano spinning and bait casting reels. The rods I use are custom made for what we do. Ruben Morin and I work on the rods for two years. We came up with a rod that is lite enough to cast all day and strong enough to fight a big redfish. Feel free to bring your own tackle.
The 23 Shoal-water Cat is the largest model in the Shoal-water line. This boats rides excellent in shallow water and runs well in a chop. The 8″ draft will allow the you and your friends to get in and out of shallow water with no trouble.
The efficient catamaran hull allows the boat to run well with a 150 HP motor and can be rigged with a 300 HP motor. The 23 Shoal-Water Cat has become the boat of choice for many fishing guides on the Texas Coast. The extremely stable hull design and spacious cockpit gives angles plenty of room to move around.
